Children and Youth
Teaching children about God and forming faith are important. At Zion, we value our children as fellow members of the Lord's family, and strive to offer them enriching programs to deepen their faith.

Godly Play teaches children through stories. Using simple manipulatives, Bible stories come to life, and children are allowed and encouraged to ask questions and wonder about stories to deepen and strengthen their faith.

Lutherhill provides a beautiful and spacious area for people of all ages and faith backgrounds to learn about God.
Sharing experiences through summer camp, youth create memories with each other that are formed in Christ.
Childrens camp is for 1st - 12th grade. Family camping times available.
Beginning in sixth grade, confirmation students study for three years with their peers and pastor. By the time of their confirmation, they will have reviewed Old Testament, New Testament, and Lutheran Teachings.
At the time a baby is baptized, he or she borrows faith from parents and godparents. Confirmation prepares a young person to affirm their baptism and to claim for themselves what they had been borrowing from their faith mentors. Once confirmed, one is a full voting member of the congregation.
Sunday worship typically includes a time for children to come forward to hear a message just for them. This teaching time is for children of any age. Sometimes, the children's sermon includes a snack or a small gift. Always, the children's sermon ends in prayer.
This time is meant for children, but it is a good way for parents to talk later about what was learned and shared in worship. The children's sermon can be faith formation for any age!
